<P><B>Mark 16:16</B>
"<U>He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved</U>;
but he that believeth not shall be damned." No statement that he that
is not baptized shall be damned. Both items could of been included.

<P><B>Mark 16:17-18</B> "And
<U>these signs shall follow them that believe</U>; In my name shall
they <U>cast out devils</U>; they shall <U>speak with new
tongues</U>; {18} They shall <U>take up serpents</U>; and
<U>if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them</U>; they
shall <U>lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover</U>." What about all these works for those that believe.
If they don't occur, does it mean they don't believe. No, these like baptism
are what a maturing Christians will do.
<P><B>Mark 1:4</B> "John did
baptize in the wilderness, and preach the <U>baptism of repentance for
the remission of sins</U>." Is it John's Baptism that is needed
for forgiveness of sins or Jesus Baptism (Romans 6:3-4 and Ephesians 4:5)? We
would say, it is baptism into Jesus that saves. Repentance, is needed, means a
turning from sins to righteousness, but everything a Christian does is Jesus
centered
<P><B>John 15:5</B>
"<U>I am the vine</U>, <U>ye <are> the
branches</U>: He that <U>abideth in me</U>, and <U>I in
him</U>, the same <U>bringeth forth much fruit</U>: for
<U>without me ye can do nothing</U>." Jesus is source for
all good things.
<P><B>Colossians 3:17</B> "And
<U>whatsoever ye do in word or deed</U>,
<U><do> all in the name of the Lord Jesus</U>, giving
thanks to God and the Father by him." Every work and deed (baptism) is
done in Jesus name. This is why we should baptize in the name of Jesus. In
every thing Jesus should get the glory.

Peter said unto them, <U>Repent</U>, and <U>be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins</U>, and
<U>ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost</U>. {39} For the
<U>promise is unto you</U>, and to <U>your
children</U>, and <U>to all that are afar off</U>,
<even> <U>as many as the Lord our God shall call</U>.
{40} And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save
yourselves from this untoward generation. {41} Then <U>they that gladly
received his word were baptized</U>: and the same day <U>there were
added <unto them> about three thousand souls</U>."
Baptism is into Jesus which lets others know that you are a disciple of Jesus.

<P>Was it repentance, baptism, in the name of
Jesus, two of them or all three of them that produce the remission of sins. So
many scriptures state that believing in Jesus produces sins remission.
<P>(such as Matthew 26:28; Luke 24:47; Hebrews
9:22). A Christian would gladly receive His word (to understand) and be
baptized.
<P><B>Matthew 26:28</B> "For
<U>this is my blood of the new testament</U>, <U>which is
shed for many for the remission of sins</U>."Jesus death paid
price.
<P><B>Luke 24:47</B> "And
<U>that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name
among all nations</U>, beginning at Jerusalem."
<P>Remission on sins that is to be preached is
faith in Jesus.
<P><B>Hebrews 9:22</B> "And
almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and <U>without shedding
of blood is no remission</U>."Jesus blood

<P><B>Acts 22:16</B> "And now
why tarriest thou? arise, and <U>be baptized</U>, <U>and wash
away thy sins</U>, <U>calling on the name of the
Lord</U>." It's the calling upon Jesus that cleans sin. Baptism
is symbol for cleaning.
<P><FONT SIZE="4"

</B></FONT>
<P><B>Acts 9:17-18</B> "And
Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him
said, Brother <U>Saul</U>, the Lord, <even> Jesus,
that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou
mightest <U>receive thy sight</U>, and <U>be filled with the Holy
Ghost</U>. {18} And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been
scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and <U>was
baptized</U>." Paul was Baptized after his healing and being
filled with the Holy Ghost. I think he was forgiven of his sins before his
baptism. The baptism confirmed who was his Lord.
<P><B>Titus 3:5</B>
"<U>Not by works of righteousness which we have done</U>,
but <U>according to his mercy he saved us</U>, <U>by the
washing of regeneration</U>, and renewing of the Holy Ghost"
Regeneration also means born again.

<P><B>1 Peter 3:20-21</B>
"Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God
waited <U>in the days of Noah</U>, while <U>the ark was a

water</U>. {21} The <U>like figure</U> whereunto
<even> <U>baptism doth also now save us (not the putting
away of the filth of the flesh</U>, but the answer of <U>a good
conscience toward God</U>,) <U>by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ</U>:" It's the resurrection of Jesus that saves not the
water which can only wash the filth off the flesh.
<P><FONT SIZE="4" COLOR="#000061"><B><U>Response</U>:</B></FONT>
This is just like the above scripture showing a washing needed in the inner
man. Noah was not saved by water, but by the ark.
<P><B>John 15:5</B>
"<U>I am the vine</U>, <U>ye <are> the
branches</U>: He that <U>abideth in me</U>, and <U>I in
him</U>, the same <U>bringeth forth much fruit</U>: for
<U>without me ye can do nothing</U>." Jesus is our source
for all good things. Baptism is a symbol of Salvation of what Jesus did and
what we did through faith in Christ (see Romans 6:3-6 below).
<P><B>Romans 6:3-6</B> <B>
</B>"Know ye not, that so many of <U>us</U> as
<U>were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his
death</U>? <B>{6:4}</B> Therefore <U>we are buried with
him by baptism into death</U>: that <U>like as Christ was raised up
from the dead</U> by the glory of the Father, even <U>so we also
should walk in newness of life</U>. <B>{6:5}</B> For if
<U>we have been planted</U> together <U>in the likeness of
his death</U>, <U>we</U> shall <U>be also in the
likeness of his resurrection</U>: <B>{6:6}</B> Knowing this,
that our old man is <U>crucified with him</U>, that the
<U>body of sin might be destroyed</U>, that henceforth we should
not serve sin."

deed</U>?:</B></FONT> Need baptism to be saves or remits
sins?
<P><B>Colossians 3:17</B> "And
<U>whatsoever ye do in word or deed</U>,
<U><do> all in the name of the Lord Jesus</U>, giving
thanks to God and the Father by him." Every work and deed (baptism) is
done in Jesus name.
<P><B>Ephesians 2:8-9</B> "For
<U>by grace are ye saved through faith</U>; and that <U>not
of yourselves</U>: <U><it is> the gift of
God</U>: {9} <U>Not of works</U>, <U>lest any man
should boast</U>." God saves, not our works. Grace is an
un-merit act by God to us. We do not earn grace by anything we do, say, think
or believe. God even supplies the faith to the Christian.
<P><B>Romans 12:3</B> "For I
say, through the grace given unto me, <U>to every man</U> that is
among you, <U>not to think <of himself> more highly than he
ought to think</U>; but to think soberly, <U>according as God hath dealt
to every man the measure of faith</U>." God is doing work in us.

<P><B>Hebrews 11:6</B> "But
<U>without faith <it is> impossible to please
<him></U>: for <U>he that cometh to God must believe
that he is</U>, and <that> <U>he is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him</U>." God's method of being
pleased is for us to have faith. The faith (forgiveness and eternal life) will
produce works (baptism, etc) in the Christian.
<P><B>Leviticus 17:11</B> "For
<U>the life of the flesh <is> in the blood</U>: and
<U>I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your
souls</U>: for <U>it <is> the blood <that>
maketh an atonement for the soul</U>." A sacrifice of one dying
was needed for atonement. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice of a sinless person.
<P>Christianity is a relationship, not a religion
of do's & do not's. All other religions center on laws. Christianity
has principles. Jesus died two thousand years ago for the sins we commit:
yesterday, today and tomorrow. A one time act/deed, by us, does not forgive
those sins. The one time act/death and resurrection, by Jesus, has the power to
forgives those sins.
