FATHER, JESUS, AND HOLY SPIRIT CHARACTER

By Dennis Schmidt 12/2013

RETURN TO THE: BIBLE PAPERS HOME PAGE

This paper discusses the Triunity of God - The Father, The Son of God - Jesus, and The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. The Mormons & the Jehovah Witnesses have three categories of created beings: humans, angels and Jesus (a god). Judaism believes in one God as do Christians who believe Jesus is that one God & creator. All scriptures are from the King James' Version Bible.

INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:

THEME: The Bible speaks of the Triunity Godhead as both in heaven and on earth doing things from Himself in both places at the same time.

Genesis 19:24 "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;" Jesus, as the angel of the LORD, is on earth calling for fire from the Father which is in heaven.

Psalms 45:6-7 "Thy throne, O God, <is> for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom <is> a right sceptre. {7} Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." God the Father calls Jesus God then says He is God to Jesus. Hebrews 1:8 shows one God who is both the Father & Jesus.

Hebrews 1:8-9 "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. {9} Thou hast loved righteousness, & hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." The Father speaks of Himself and Jesus as God.

Psalms 110:1 "A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." God the Father calling Jesus His Lord.

PURPOSE: God shown in both the New and Old Testaments that He is a one plurality Triunity Godhead.

Isaiah 48:16 "Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there <am> I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me." Jesus is speaking. The Father and Holy Spirit have sent Jesus. Presented is the united one God in His three manifestations.

1 John 5:4-8 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. {5} Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? {6} This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. {7} For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. {8} And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." Three are one

KEY VERSE: Triunity Godhead is shown in both the New and Old Testaments yet God is one plurality.

Isaiah 63:8-10 "For he said, Surely they <are> my people, children <that> will not lie: so he was their Saviour. {9} In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. {10} But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, <and> he fought against them." The Father is calling them His children, who becomes their enemy, and fights against them. Jesus is the angel who saved and redeemed them. The Holy Spirit is vexed by them.

1 Peter 1:2 "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied." The Apostle Peter gives equal authority to each manifestation of the Godhead.

WHO: God mainly by Bible authors Moses, Isaiah, David, Matthew, Luke, John, and Paul

TO WHOM: Elected Christians

WHAT: The words Trinity and Triunity are not found in the Bible. However, the Triunity theological doctrine or teaching is found in the Bible to support one God, one essence, one being, one nature, and one divine Spirit who is indivisible which manifests Himself eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three distinct equal substances. The three manifestations always act in unity and agreement, and they have an order of Father to Son to Holy Spirit. They are not divided since there is a qualitative unique oneness acting in three separate personalities. What is most important is God can not be divided into three persons (as humans) which is not found in the Bible. If you see Jesus, you see the entire Godhead bodily (see Colossians 2:9). He is one God eternally always Father, Son, & Holy Spirit who shows Himself in these three characteristic ways. God is seen in His creation as in Romans 1:19-20, but His unique oneness can not be compared to or conceived by observing the created or nature order. His oneness is seen by His word the Bible.

The Godhead should not be compared by earthly element. Nonetheless, to try to explain the Triunity to a Jewish person who thinks that Christians have multiple gods, I am going to try comparing the Triunity (Single one compound God) to water in its three states of gas (boiling), liquid, and solid (ice) at the same time and same place. The water could be equated with the Triunity Godhead. The three states of water could represent the Father (Liquid), Son (Ice), and Holy Spirit (gas) who are manifested together eternally. The water could be a liquid form in which heat is applied and its starts to boil emitting steam. These two states of water exist together. A cube of ice could be dropped into liquid which has the three states of water: liquid, gas, and solid in the same place at the same time. The Godhead always (eternally) exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit everywhere (Omnipresent) in the same time and same place.

Romans 1:19-20 "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. {20} For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" Nature in the creation shows there is a God.

WHY: The Bible is God Word (Jesus) to man to know God and His character.

John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. {2} The same was in the beginning with God. {3} All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." Jesus is the eternal God revealed by His Word: Bible

John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Jesus left His glory as human

1 John 1:1-2 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; {2} (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, & was manifested unto us;)"Jesus is the eternal life of God

WAY: God is one divine Spirit who is indivisible which manifests Himself eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three distinct equal substances. God is not divided since there is a qualitative unique oneness acting in three separate personalities. Each manifestation of the God has some differences in His personalities who shows Himself in these three characteristic ways.  The only scripture reference to God as a person is shown in:

Hebrews 1:2-3 "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; {3} Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" The word here person is defined with the same Strongs' Greek word defined as substance in:

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." God in Jesus was a person on earth. However, God is a Spirit.

John 4:24 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

WHEREAS: The Triunity Godhead is shown in both the Old and New Testaments.

2 Corinthians 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen." The Apostle Paul gives equal authority to each manifestation of the Godhead. Note placement of Jesus 1st then God Father & Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 2:18 "For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." The Apostle Paul shows the way God's manifestations provide a Christian's access to the Godhead.

WHERE: Everywhere – heaven and earth

WHEN: God is a Triunity before His creation. God is eternal: He always existed, exists now, and will exist forever.

Exodus 3:13-14 "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? {14} And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." God is telling about His eternal existence in His character.

John 8:58 "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." Jesus made a clear reference to the Exodus 3:14 statement by God's I AM scripture.

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus is the I AM, and He is God's only way.

I) HOW IS THE TRINITY EXPLAINED?

The words Trinity and Triunity are not found in the Bible.

See my paper: "Just Who Is God?" for more information on this subject.

II) THE BIBLE SHOWS GOD IS A COMPOUND ONE, NOT THREE: Main God oneness verse for plurality.

Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God <is> one LORD:"

The Hebrew is within ( ): "our God" (Elohim) is a plural word meaning our Gods; "one" (echad) is a compound one shown also in one flesh in Genesis 2:24.

Genesis 2:24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." The man and his wife are two people yet one together.

III) GOD AS A PLURALITY: Plural pronouns are used for God such as us, we, and our.

Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." The us & our can not be angels since: God created man, not angles, and made him in His image not the image of an angel.

Genesis 3:22 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:" LORD God (singular) and one of us (plural). The angels did not know good from evil.

Genesis 11:6-7 "And the LORD said, Behold, the people <is> one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. {7} Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." Three angels (one being the pre-incarnate God - Jesus) went down to Abraham. Abraham negotiated with the angel of God, if ten righteous people are in Sodom, God would save the city from being destroyed. The angel of the Lord, Jesus, continued on to Sodom and Gomorrah where there were not ten righteous people. Genesis 19:24 below shows that the angel is the LORD who was on the earth and in heaven at the same time. Only God is omnipresent (everywhere at the same time).

Isaiah 6:8 "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here <am> I; send me." I send, not we send. I & us show a Triunity Godhead.

Isaiah 41:21-22 "Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong <reasons>, saith the King of Jacob. {22} Let them bring <them> forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they <be>, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come." The LORD, show us & we is the Godhead manifestation.

IV) GOD SPEAKS OF HIMSELF AS MORE THAN ONE: LORD on earth while also in heaven.

See my paper: "Godhead Relationship" for more information on this subject.

{9} Thou hast loved righteousness, & hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows."

Psalms 110:1 "A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." God the Father calling Jesus His Lord.

Hebrews 10:12-13 "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; {13} From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool."

V) GOD IS NOT THREE PERSONS, BUT THREE PERSONALITIES:

God is one divine Spirit who is indivisible which manifests Himself eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three distinct equal substances. God is not divided since there is a qualitative unique oneness acting in three separate personalities. Each manifestation of the God has some differences in His personalities who shows Himself in these three characteristic ways.

The only scripture reference to God as a person is shown in:

Hebrews 1:2-3 "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; {3} Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"

The word here person is defined with the same Strongs' Greek word defined as substance in:

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

God in Jesus was a person on earth. However, God is a Spirit.

John 4:24 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

VI) TRIUNITY GOD IN THE BIBLE: Several Biblical scriptures clearly shown a compound Godhead.

() GOD IS MERCIFUL:

Psalm 103:8-17 "The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. {9} He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. {10} He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. {11} For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. {12} As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. {13} Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. {14} For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. {15}
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. {16} For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. {17} But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;"

() GOD IS OMNIPRESENT:

() GOD IS OMNISCIENT:

Psalm 139:2-6 "Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. {3} Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. {4}
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.{5} Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. {6} Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it."

Isaiah 40:13-14 "Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? {14} With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?"

Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."

Exodus 3:13-14 "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? {14} And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."

() GOD IS SELF-SUFFICIENT:

Psalm 50:10-12 "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. {11} I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. {12} If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof."

() GOD IS SOVEREIGN:

Isaiah 46:9-11 "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, {10} Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: {11} Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it."

The Father is calling them His children, who becomes their enemy, and fights against them. Jesus is the angel who saved and redeemed them. The Holy Spirit is vexed by them.

Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

A) TRIUNITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: What does the Bible Prophet teach about the Triunity?

See my paper: "Jesus in the Old Testament" for more information on this subject.

B) TRIUNITY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: What does Jesus & apostles teach about the Triunity?

Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Jesus gives equal authority to each manifestation of the Godhead showing that they are equal & each the single God.

Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." God has purchased with His own blood. Jesus blood is that of God, because Jesus is God.

Romans 15:30 "Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;" Prayer to Godhead.

1 Corinthians 12:3-6 "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. {4} Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. {5} And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. {6} And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all." The Apostle Paul shows the Triunity Godhead in dispensing the gifts by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen." The Apostle Paul gives equal authority to each manifestation of the Godhead. Note placement of Jesus 1st then God Father&Holy Spirit.

Revelation 1:4-6 "John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; {5} And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, {6} And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." The Apostle John shows the eternal Godhead with more information of the Holy Spirit (see Isaiah 11:2) & the manifestation's of the Godhead.

VII) THE ETERNAL I AM GOD: Many scriptures refer to God as the I AM: always exists.

A) GOD CALLS HIMSELF I AM: God is eternal: He always existed, exists now, and will always exist.

B) JESUS CALLS HIMSELF I AM: Jesus is eternal: exist forever & He was not created or made.

Exodus 23:20-21 "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. {21} Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him." The Angel of the Lord is the pre-incarnate Jesus. Many other scriptures that show that the Angel of the Lord is divine.

Proverbs 30:4 "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, & what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?" Jesus

John 14:8-10 "Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? {10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." Jesus can not lie. Jesus told His disciple to see Him is to see the Father.

John 17:21-23 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. {22} And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: {23} I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." Jesus is the one & only God since God can not be divided.

2 Corinthians 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

Colossians 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:" Jesus

Colossians 1:19 "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;" Complete God

Colossians 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." Jesus is the Godhead

Hebrews 1:3 "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"

C) JESUS IS THE CREATOR: Jesus is the one God who created everything.

John 1:3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." Jesus, as God, created all things within the Godhead.

Colossians 1:16-17 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: {17} And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."

Hebrews 1:2 "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" Jesus created the universe.

D) JESUS CLAIMED HIMSELF TO BE GOD:

See my paper: "Jesus Life, Events, & Identity" for more information on this subject.

Mark 14:61-64 "But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? {62} And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

{63} Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? {64} Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death."

The people and religious leadership knew that Jesus claimed Himself to be God.

John 5:17-18 "But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. {18} Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." Jesus claimed God equivalent.

John 10:30-33 "I and my Father are one. {31} Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. {32} Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? {33} The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God." The Jews knew Jesus was saying that He is God in the statement: The Father and Jesus are one.

John 17:5-6 "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. {6} I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word." Jesus had the glory from before time and showed God name, Jesus, to mankind.

E) PEOPLE CLAIMED JESUS IS GOD: His Apostles professed Jesus as God.

Matthew 16:16-17 "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. {17} And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." God revealed.

John 20:28-29 "And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. {29} Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." Thomas saw & touched Jesus. We do not have that advantage.

Titus 2:13 "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;" Looking for the great God who is also our Saviour Jesus.

F) JESUS IS WORSHIPPED: Only God is to be worshipped. Jesus accepted worship.

Revelation 19:10 "And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Angels are not to be worshipped, only God.

Matthew 4:10 "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." God's commandment stated by Jesus.

Matthew 2:2 "Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." Earthly kings came to worship the baby Jesus.

Matthew 9:18 "While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live." This man had resurrection faith that Jesus would bring his daughter back to life.

Matthew 14:33 "Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God." Jesus had just walked on water.

Matthew 28:17 "And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted." This is an amazing scripture in that the disciples were with Jesus 3 years & saw Him raised from the dead.

Luke 24:52 "And they worshipped him, & returned to Jerusalem with great joy:" Jesus ascended

John 9:35-38 "Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? {36} He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? {37} And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. {38} And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him." Blind man healed.

G) JESUS FORGIVES SINS: Only God can forgive sins against God.

See my paper: "Forgiveness of Sins" for more information on this subject.

Acts 7:59-60 "And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit {60} And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. & when he had said this, he fell asleep." Stephen called for God His Lord Jesus to forgive.

Luke 5:20-24 "And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. {21} And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? {22} But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? {23} Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? {24} But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house."Jesus as God has authority to forgive.

H) JESUS THE WORD: The Bible is God Word (Jesus) to man to know God, & what is His character.

See my paper: "God's Word/Bible/Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

I) ONLY BEGOTTEN SON: The unique Son of God came from heaven in the fulness of the Holy Spirit..

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God's only unique Son.

J) JESUS EQUAL OR LIMITED TO GOD: Jesus in His humanity limited Himself.

Matthew 11:27 "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." Only the Son knows the Father & determines who to reveal the Father to.

Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." Jesus has all power in heaven and earth.

Mark 13:32 "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." The Son limited Himself as a man. As God, He knows.

John 10:28-29 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. {29} My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." Pluck out of hand equivalent. Jesus gives life.

Philippians 2:5-8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: {6} Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: {7} But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: {8} And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Jesus is God, but limited Himself to manhood with its limitations.

IX) GOD THE FATHER:

A) CREATOR: The Father is the creator.

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." God is the creator.

Psalms 100:3 "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." God has made us & not ourselves.

Malachi 2:10 "Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?"FatherGod

1 Corinthians 8:6 "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." God created all things.

B) FATHER OF MANKIND: (My) God is our personal (my) Father and we call Him Dad (Abba)

Deuteronomy 32:6 "Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?"Lord, Father & creator

Psalms 89:26 "He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation." We have both a earthly father and heavenly father who is our personal God.

Matthew 6:9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." God is our personal Father in heaven.

Galatians 4:6-7 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. {7} Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." We have a Father who made us a son and heir with Jesus.

C) GOD IS FATHER OF JESUS HIS UNIQUE SON:

Mark 1:10-11 "And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: {11} And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."God is Jesus beloved Son. Triunity shown

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God's "only" Unique Son.

D) ORDER WITHIN GODHEAD: God the Father to God the Son to God the Holy Spirit

John 10:29 "My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." The Father is greater than human Jesus. Jesus is the same as God.

John 14:28 "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I."

1 Corinthians 11:3 "But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God." From the Father to the Son.

E) PROVIDER OF THE SPIRIT TO US WHO HE MADE BELIEVERS:

John 15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:"Jesus->Father->Spirit

John 17:2 "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." The Father is sovereign to give eternal life through the Son.

F) WITHIN A CHRISTIAN: Provides life, guidance, relationship, etc.

See my paper: "One-In-Christ" for more information on this subject.

John 14:23 "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." Full God

X) GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT/GHOST: Evil spirits/demons exist as intelligent beings, so does God in Spirit

A) THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD: The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is clearly shown as God.

Acts 5:3-4 "But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? {4} Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God." Apostle Peter in presents of apostles - Spirit is God.

Hebrews 9:14 "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" The eternal (always exists) Spirit is God. This scripture also shows the Triunity.

B) CREATOR: God and Holy Spirit as creator in one verse.

Job 33:4 "The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life."

Genesis 1:1-2 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. {2} "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."Spirit of God is eternal: In the beginning/involved in creation.

C) RELATIONSHIP TO THE LORD: Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the one God.

Matthew 1:18 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost."

Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Both God the Father & Holy Spirit are Jesus father.

2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Jesus is Lord and the Holy Spirit are one God. Jesus is Lord (see Acts 2:23 below).

Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."Jesus is Lord. God called Lord many times.

Acts 19:2-6 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. {3} And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. {4} Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. {5} When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. {6} And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied." Spirit is real.

D) HOLY SPIRIT WORKING IN OLD TESTAMENT: God, the Holy Spirit, had inspired written scripture.

1 Peter 1:11-12 "Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. {12} Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into." Much interest.

2 Peter 1:20-21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. {21} For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Holy Spirit moves or inspires man to write.

E) LOSE THE HOLY SPIRIT: David was very concerned he could lose the Holy Spirit.

Psalms 51:10-12 "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. {11} Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. {12} Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit." David sinned & feared losing Spirit.

F) BLASPHEME HOLY SPIRIT: Commit the unpardonable sin against Holy Spirit (God not a force).

See my paper: "Unpardonable Sin" for more information on this subject.

Matthew 12:31-32 "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. {32} And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." This is were the person knowingly rejects truth & calls truth a lie.

Hebrews 6:4-6 "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, {5} And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, {6} If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." Partaker of Holy Spirit in relationship. Last step of a person experience of: sin - > hell

G) GODHEAD ORDER: Father -> Son -> Holy Spirit

John 14:16-17 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; {17} Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." Jesus->Father->Spirit "He/Him" From heaven to be another Comforter (Isaiah 9:6 earlier).

John 15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:"Jesus->Father->Spirit

H) WITHIN A CHRISTIAN: Provides life, guidance, relationship, etc.

See my paper: "Holy Spirit Baptism" for more information on this subject.

Luke 12:12 "For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say."

John 20:22 "And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:" Holy Spirit is a real manifestation of the Godhead who came into Christians.

Acts 1:5 "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence." Baptism is a complete filling of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." The Spirit performs the words through the person who talks.

1 Corinthians 12:11 "But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will." See verses 3-11. The Holy Spirit, as God Himself, makes the decision.

I) AN ACTIVE FORCE: The Spirit is not a force as He as characteristics like intellect, emotion & will.

Exodus 31:3 "And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship," Given to man. See also Isaiah 11:2 below.

Numbers 11:25 "And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that <was> upon him, and gave <it> unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, <that>, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease."Spirit gifts-1 Cor 12 /Eph 4

Isaiah 11:2 "And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" The seven fold Spirit of the Holy Spirit which Jesus had in His fullness for His ministry.

Isaiah 61:1 "The spirit of the Lord GOD <is> upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to <them that are> bound; {2} To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;" Quoted by Jesus for His ministry in Luke 4:18-19. The Holy Spirit fulness in Isaiah 11:2.

1 Corinthians 2:10-12 "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. {11} For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. {12} Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." God revelation to saints.

Finally, this paper has shown many scriptures to support the Triunity of God. God is a qualitative unique one, eternally indivisible manifested as the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. To believe in three Gods when scripture shows one God or to divide God into three persons is wrong. Scripture teacher: To see Jesus is to see the fullness of the Godhead bodily (John 14:8-10; Colossians 2:9).

1 Corinthians 12:3 "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." Spirit is from God. The Spirit of God/Holy Ghost are one in the same to call Jesus Lord.

God is omnipresent or everywhere at the same time. A Christian can't curse Jesus or call Him Lord, but he have the Holy Spirit within him. If Christians have the Holy Spirit within them, are there many Holy Spirits? No. There is only one Holy Spirit and as God He is omnipresent in all believers at the same time. God is one, and He is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in each believer in fulness (John 14:16-17 Note He/Him).

Ephesians 4:4-6 "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; {5} One Lord, one faith, one baptism, {6} One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." The Godhead is one, but He is a plurality oneness.

God's word says there is one God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in us all; both in heaven and earth; electing us into one body by one faith (Christianity) by one baptism (into Christ) who is our one Lord (Jesus) in one hope of our calling by one Spirit (Holy Spirit) in His fulness.  May the Fullness Godhead, Jesus open our eyes to the Triunity.
