This paper discusses the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1). Parts of the sermon can be found in Luke 6:20 - 6:49 which is called The Sermon on the level Plain (Luke 6:17) and Luke 11 and 12. The sermon is the Christian's kingdom constitution (principles to live by). The sermon is a positive emphasis and is for today (Matthew 7:24-27).

INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:

THEME: Inner attitude of the heart as compared with outward conformity. The Christian has no rules or laws. He has Biblical principles. He is not to break the law, since God's law is perfect for all times.

Matthew 5:17-18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. {18} For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Romans 3:19-22 "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. {20} Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law <is> the knowledge of sin. {21} But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; {22} Even the righteousness of God <which is> by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:" Law shows our sins.

PURPOSE: This one scripture does the law and prophets which is the equivalent to the entire Bible (Old Testament was only Bible at this time).

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

Luke 6:31 "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."

KEY VERSE:

Matthew 5:17-18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. {18} For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

WHO: God written mostly by Bible authors Matthew, Luke, John, Peter, and Paul

TO WHOM: Elected Christians

WHAT: We can not keep the law perfectly, but we can receive from Jesus of His accomplishments through our faith. Jesus showed, in the sermon, that the law must be fulfilled in the Christian's heart.

Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;" The law was removed for Christians.

WHY: Christians who lost their witness are good for nothing. Salt: To preserve (Christian influence), enhance the flavor (add Christian values) and purify (clean) the people around us. Christian Light shine: God should receive the glory for the Christians deeds which are the evidences of their salvation. The people around should see Christ in our life. Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12). Light (Jesus) guides us on the correct path. He who walks the walk, it can not be hid.

Matthew 5:13-16 "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. {14} Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. {15} Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. {16} Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

WAY: This one scripture does the law and prophets which is the equivalent to the entire Bible (Old Testament was only Bible at this time).

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." The Christians does his part first.

Luke 6:31 "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."

WHEREAS:

Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Luke 12:31 "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Matthew 19:29 "And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."

Mark 10:29-30 "And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, {30} But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life."

I) KINGDOM: Kingdom of God tells who runs it; Kingdom of Heaven tells where it is. It always existed with God as King. Jesus is King, within the Christians, of His present Kingdom (Luke 17:21 "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."). Jesus came to bring the kingdom. His second coming will have Him as king for the Millennium. See my paper: "Kingdom of Heaven and God" for more information on this subject.

II) PRINCIPLES AS COMPARED WITH THE LAW: Inner attitude of the heart as compared with outward conformity. The Christian has no rules or laws.  He has Biblical principles. See Matthew 5:17 for scriptures.

III) SERMON IS FOR TODAY NOT MILLENNIUM OF MESSIAH KINGDOM AGE:

Matthew 7:24-27 Compares a person who hears and responds to the word with one who does not respond. Jesus is asking that of us. In the Millennium age will there be a need for Matthew 5:10-11 (persecution) when Jesus is on the throne? Of cause not. Will people pray the Lord's prayer "thy kingdom come" Matthew 6:10 when Jesus kingdom has already come? Of cause not. Jesus kingdom will not have divorces, oaths, lawsuits and commands to love enemies.

IV) KINGDOM LIFE: 5:1 - 5:16

See my paper: "Jesus Two Comings As King" GOD IS EARTH'S KING & JESUS IS ISRAEL'S KING IN HIS TWO COMINGS for more information on this subject.

Matthew 5:1 "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:"

Luke 6:17 "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;" Possible not at mountain top, but at a level portion.

Matthew 5:2 "And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,"

A) BEATITUDES: 5:3 - 5:12 Beatitude means happy. The first four Beatitudes deal with inner life & the remainder deal with outer life or relations with others. A reward is provided with each.

Matthew 5:3 "Blessed <are> the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The poor in spirit will have spiritual humility.

LUKE'S BLESSINGS & WOES: 6:20 - 6:26

Luke 6:20 "And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed <be ye> poor: for yours is the kingdom of God."

Poor in spirit: The goal is Christ. When the Christian examines himself he sees no righteousness of his own. He is poor, but rich. He is rich because God called and elected him into His kingdom.

Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God: They are the same.

See my paper: "Kingdom of God & Heaven" JESUS CAME TO ESTABLISH HIS KINGDOM. WHAT IS HIS KINGDOM? HOW CAN IT BE ENTERED? for more information on this subject.

Matthew 5:4 "Blessed <are> they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Mourn since the Christian has a sensitivity to his sins. He also looks at the world's condition & church's lack of faith.

Matthew 5:5 "Blessed <are> the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." Meek is lowly which is the opposite of being proud.

Meek: Meek, not weak, before God knowing his spiritual limitations.

Moses was the meekest man, but he was a strong leader.

Numbers 12:3 "(Now the man Moses <was> very meek, above all the men which <were> upon the face of the earth.)"He let God defend him

Inherit the earth: The Christian will live on a new earth forever.

See my paper: "God's Dispensation & Covenant Plans" AN OVERVIEW OF THE CREATION DISPENSATIONAL & COVENANT (WITHIN EACH DISPENSATION) PLANS ARE SHOWN for more information on this subject.

2 Peter 3:7 "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

2 Peter 3:13 "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."

Revelation 21:10 "And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God," Final home on earth.

Revelation 22:5 "And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever." Read Revelation 22

Matthew 5:6 "Blessed <are> they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."

Luke 6:21 "Blessed <are ye> that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed <are ye> that weep now: for ye shall laugh."

Hunger and thirst after righteousness: Desire to have Jesus's

See my paper: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" GOSPEL SHOWN IN SCRIPTURES MUST INCLUDE THE REVELATION OF THE IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS. for more information on this subject.

perfection (Matthew 5:48) & be conformed to His image (Romans 8:29)

John 4:14 "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

Matthew 5:7 "Blessed <are> the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy." Mercy is not getting punishment we deserve. Grace (getting what we do not deserve) is what God give us. We are to be merciful.

Merciful: for they shall obtain mercy: Whole parable in Matthew 18:23-35. The Lord showed him great mercy & he showed no mercy. Likewise, God forgave us of all our sins. We should forgive others.

Matthew 18:32-34 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: {33} Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? {34} And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him."

Matthew 5:8 "Blessed <are> the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Pure is holy or proper motivation to God and acts to others.

Pure in heart: Because Christ changed the Christian's heart.

Jeremiah 24:7 "And I will give them an heart to know me, that I <am> the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart."

Matthew 5:9 "Blessed <are> the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." Jesus is the Prince of Peace our example.

Peacemakers: Unity in family of God. Stand for peace to others.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Peace from fear.

Matthew 5:10 "Blessed <are> they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Persecuted for righteousness sake: Righteousness is obeying God.

2 Timothy 3:12 "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." Proof of Christian's changed nature.

Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are ye, when <men> shall revile you, and persecute <you>, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake." For the right cause: Christ, not our issues.

Luke 6:22-23 "Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you <from their company>, and shall reproach <you>, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. {23} Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward <is> great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets."

Persecute for my sake: In Jesus stead, since He is not here, the Overcomer Christian will suffers in His place for Him.

Philippians 1:29 "For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;"

1 Peter 4:13 "But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." Christ's nature, sonship, in us.

Matthew 5:12 "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great <is> your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Not persecuted for our cause: doctrine, self righteous.

Great is your reward in heaven:

See my paper: "Judgments of Believer & Unbeliever" PRESENTED ARE SEVERAL JUDGMENTS FOR THE SAVED AND UN-SAVED for more information on this subject.

The Matthew Sermon on the Mount only has blessings whereas the Luke version of the sermon includes woes.

Luke 6:24-26 "But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. {25} Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. {26} Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets." Seeking wealth, self satisfaction, or prideful reputation are of the flesh.

B) CHRISTIAN LIFE AND INFLUENCE (SALT & LIGHT): 5:13 - 5:16

Matthew 5:13 "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Christians who lost their witness is good for nothing.

Salt: To preserve (Christian influence), enhance the flavor (add Christian values) and purify (clean) the people around us.

Matthew 5:14 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." He who walks the walk can not be hid.

Matthew 5:15 "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Christian Light shine: God should receives the glory for the Christians deeds which are the evidences of their salvation. The people around should see Christ in our life. Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12). Light (Jesus) guides us on the correct path.

V) KINGDOM PRINCIPLES: 5:17 - 5:48 These are taking Old Testament laws and showing a deeper meaning which is God's principle.

A) PRINCIPLES OF MOSES (FULFILLMENT OF LAW): 5:17 - 5:20

Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

Think not I am come to destroy the law, but to fulfill: Jesus is the only man who did everything perfectly under the law. He fulfilled all the requirements of God's eternal & perfect law.

We can not keep the law perfectly, but we can receive from Jesus of His accomplishments through our faith. Jesus showed, in the sermon, that the law must be fulfilled in the Christian's heart.

Galatians 5:14 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, <even> in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself"Love fulfills law

Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;" The law was removed for Christians.

See my paper: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith & Liberty" THE PURPOSE OF LAW, FAITH BEFORE THE LAW, FAITH IS GOD'S PLAN & LIBERTY FROM THE LAW. for more information on this subject.

Christians are not under law but principles shown in scriptures:

Inner attitude of the heart as compared with outward conformity. The Christian has no rules or laws. He has Biblical principles. He is not to break the law, since God's law is perfect for all times. .

See my paper: "What Does God Really Want?" WHAT LAWS OF GOD ARE CHRISTIANS TO FOLLOW. SHOWN ARE STEPS TO RECEIVE GOD FORGIVENESS for more information on this subject.

Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Faith in Jesus completed work.

Romans 10:4 "For Christ <is> the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." We appropriate Jesus righteousness.

Galatians 3:19 "Wherefore then <serveth> the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; <and it was> ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator." Jesus is that promise seed.

Galatians 3:24-25 "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster <to bring us> unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. {25} But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." Now the Christian has faith and does not need law.

Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." The Christian has liberty, but it's not to justify sin. See Galatians 5:13.

Galatians 5:3-4 "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. {4} Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." Anyone under law must do them all.

Galatians 5:13 "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only <use> not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." We are under the principle of law and of love.

Matthew 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." One jot or one tittle means smallest law.

Matthew 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach <them>, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Break least commandment or teach men so, called least in kingdom:

Luke 11:42 "But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." This is true of the Christian also. Do all & trust God.

James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one <point>, he is guilty of all."Only if a non-believer.

Matthew 5:20 "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed <the righteousness> of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." Through Jesus.

Your righteousness exceed scribe and Pharisees, not enter kingdom:

Micah 6:8 "He hath showed thee, O man, what <is> good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

Matthew 23:23 "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier <matters> of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

James 1:27 "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, <and> to keep himself unspotted from the world."

See my paper: "Israel & Jewish People in God's Plan" JESUS JEWISHNESS, ISRAEL, JERUSALEM, & JEWS IN GOD'S PLAN; JEWS & GENTILE SALVATION for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Christians Are Not Under Law, But Jews Can Culturally Keep God's Commandments" COMMANDMENTS WERE GIVEN TO JEWS NOT GENTILES; CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER LAW; BUT JEWISH BELIEVERS MAY CONTINUE KEEPING LAW NOT FOR SALVATION for more information on this subject.

B) PRINCIPLES OF ANGER: 5:21 - 5:22 Jesus first brings in the Old Testament law or saying and then enlarges it to what God meant as the principle (here, self control) the Christian is to live by.

Matthew 5:21 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:"

Thou shalt not kill:

Exodus 20:13 "Thou shalt not kill."God's 5th commandment to Moses

Matthew 5:22 "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Raca means empty head or idiot. Fool means worthless.

Whosoever is angry with his brother...in danger of the judgment:

Jesus takes the law & changes it from a letter to a heart attitude.

1 John 3:15 "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him."

C) PRINCIPLES OF RECONCILING: 5:23 - 5:26 Principle: right relations.

Matthew 5:23 "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;"

Matthew 5:24 "Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."

Reconcile to thy brother, then offer thy gift: First make your relationship with your brother correct by apologizing & forgiving.

1 John 4:20 "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" Correct relationships.

Matthew 5:25 "Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison." This looks beyond person to God who can punish.

Luke 12:58 "When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, <as thou art> in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison."

Matthew 5:26 "Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing."

D) PRINCIPLES OF PURITY: 5:27 -5:30 Principle: Respect & chaste

Matthew 5:27 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:"

Ye have heard, of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

Exodus 20:14 "Thou shalt not commit adultery." 6th Commandment

Matthew 5:28 "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

I say, whosoever looketh to lust hath committed adultery with her:

The principle is that the Christian should have inward purity. A non-Christian, if he thought he would not be punished, he would do

the act. Therefore, he is guilty in his heart.

Matthew 5:29 "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast <it> from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not <that> thy whole body should be cast into hell." If no other way. By Jesus name you can cast out Satan.

Matthew 5:30 "And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast <it> from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not <that> thy whole body should be cast into hell." Doctors cut off gangrene parts as a last resort.

If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, profitable one member perish, thy whole body be cast into hell: Shown is the importance of salvation over your eye of hand. The Lord is not recommending removing the members of your body, but putting God first.

E) PRINCIPLES OF FAITHFUL: 5:31 - 5:32 Principle: marriage is sacred.

Matthew 5:31 "It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:"

Matthew 5:32 "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

See my paper: "Marriage, Divorce, & Remarriage" PRESENTED IS MOST SCRIPTURES FOR WHEN TWO ARE MARRIED & GOD'S PERMITTING DIVORCES for more information on this subject.

Whosoever put away his wife, give her a writing divorcement: A old testament rule. This is not God's perfect plan, but Moses allowed it because of the hardness of their heart.

Deuteronomy 24:1 "When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give <it> in her hand, and send her out of his house." The reason was uncleanness in her, Jesus used fornication.

Mark 10:3-9 "And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? {4} And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put <her> away. {5} And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. {6} But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. {7} For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; {8} And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. {9} What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

Put away his wife saving for fornication causes her commit adultery: Jesus allowed fornication as reason for divorce. However, Christians should not get divorced. This topic is very difficult to discuss in these few verses. Marriage is a spiritual commitment which last for as long as the two live. It may also start with the sexual union.

See my paper: "Man's Relationship With His Wife, Family & Friends" HOW TO IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS USING SCRIPTURES for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:20 "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" Relationship between wife and husband reach hate. If they do not forgive and love then the person can not be a Christian. Christians must forgive each other. See Prayer Matthew 6:12 (God forgives us as forgive others).

F) PRINCIPLES OF TRUE TO WORD (VOW): 5:33 - 5:37 Principle: truthful

Matthew 5:33 "Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:"A Christian can instead affirm his word.

Matthew 5:34 "But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:"

Shalt not swear thyself, perform thine oaths. Swear not at all:

A Christian's word must be perfect. He must meet his commitments.

See my paper: "Walk as Jesus Walked" PRESENTED ARE THE WALKS OF THE CHRISTIAN DISCIPLE. for more information on this subject.

Matthew 23:16 "Woe unto you, <ye> blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!"

Matthew 5:35 "Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King."

Matthew 5:36 "Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black."

Matthew 5:37 "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."

Swear not at all; let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay:

The same principles Jesus preached are found in the epistles.

James 5:12 "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and <your> nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation"God's word makes it clear by saying: above all things.

G) PRINCIPLES OF NON-RESISTANCE (EYE FOR AN EYE): 5:38 - 5:42

Principle: non-resistance or not to retaliate.

See my paper: "The Christian Position on Civil Authority & Nonresistance" CHRISTIANITY TEACH LOVE, NONRESISTANCE & OBEY AUTHORITY for more information on this subject.

Matthew 5:38 "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:"

An eye for eye and a tooth for a tooth: Old testament rules. Love enemies is the New Testament principle to replace the old.

Exodus 21:24-25 "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, {25} Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe." The law limited the punishment to fit the crime.

Romans 12:17 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men."

Romans 12:19 "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but <rather> give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance <is> mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Let God handle the problem.

Matthew 5:39 "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Jesus was non-resistance to His enemies several times.

Whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn the other to:

Luke 6:29 "And unto him that smiteth thee on the <one> cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not <to take thy> coat also."

Matthew 5:40 "And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have <thy> cloak also."

If any man will sue thee at the law, take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also: Do more. God will provide the replacements.

1 Corinthians 6:1 "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?"

1 Corinthians 6:7 "Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather <suffer yourselves to> be defrauded?" This is aimed at two Christians, but holds for sinner.

Matthew 5:41 "And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain." Do more than is required. See also Matthew 27:32.

Matthew 5:42 "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." Give, but use judgment.

The person must have a genuine need. He should use his own faith.

Luke 6:30 "Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask <them> not again." Do not request return.

Luke 6:34-35 "And if ye lend <to them> of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. {35} But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and <to> the evil."

H) PRINCIPLES OF LOVE (LOVE ENEMIES): 5:43 - 5:47 Principle: Divine love to all people. Do good deeds to enemy.

See my paper: "Love" DEFINITION OF LOVE; LOVE IN ACTION IS CHARITY; BIBLE LOVE CHAPTERS; EXAMPLES OF LOVE; LOVE COMMANDS for more information on this subject.

Matthew 5:43 "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy."

Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Luke 6:27-28 "But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, {28} Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." What God does for us.

Bless them that curse you..persecute you: The same principles Jesus preached in the sermon are found also in the epistles.

Romans 12:14 "Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not."

Matthew 5:45 "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

Sun to rise on evil & on the good, rain on just & on the unjust:

Romans 2:4 "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?"

Romans 9:22 "<What> if God, willing to show <his> wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:"

Matthew 5:46 "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?" Love all people.

Luke 6:32-33 "For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. {33} And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same."

Matthew 5:47 "And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more <than others>? do not even the publicans so?"

I) PRINCIPLE OF IMITATATION (REPRODUCTION): 5:48 Principle: = God

Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Be perfect as your Father is perfect: Absolute maturity is perfect.

See my paper: "Triunity: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit" GOD IS A QUALITATIVE ONE TRIUNITY NOT TRIUNE: THREE SEPARATE PERSONS. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Just Who Is God" GOD CAN NOT BE DIVIDED. GOD IS A QUALITATIVE ONE TRIUNITY NOT THREE SEPARATE PERSONS. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "The One God - The Shama" THE KEY BIBLE SCRIPTURE FOR ONE GOD IS DEUTERONOMY 6:4. THE WORD FOR GOD IS A PLURALITY, & THE WORD FOR ONE IS A COMPOUND UNITY. THIS IS THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE FOR GOD WHO IS A TRIUNITY PLURALITY ONE UNITY. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "God the Holy Spirit / Ghost Scriptures & Notes" SCRIPTURES & NOTES THAT SHOW THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD & A MANIFESTATION OF THE TRIUNITY GODHEAD for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Godhead Relationship" HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH MANIFESTATION OF THE GODHEAD FOR FULFILLMENT, NOT ONLY JESUS. for more information on this subject.

The scriptures teach levels of perfection. Absolute is fullness.

Genesis 17:1 "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I <am> the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect."

Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:"

Philippians 3:12 "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus."This is Paul.

Colossians 1:28 "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:"

Hebrews 6:1-2 "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, {2} Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." Basic teachings

Hebrews 5:9 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" This is Jesus.

Hebrews 10:14 "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." The sanctified are perfected by Jesus.

Luke 6:36 "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."

Be merciful as your Father is merciful: Mercy is not getting punishment we deserve. Grace (getting what we do not deserve) is what God give us.

Merciful: for they shall obtain mercy: Whole parable in Matthew 18:23-35. The Lord showed him a great mercy & he showed no mercy.

Likewise God forgave us of all our sins.

V) KINGDOM PRACTICES: 6:1 - 7:12

A) PRINCIPLES OF GIVING: 6:1 - 6:4 Principle: Give for God's glory.

Matthew 6:1 "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven."

Matthew 6:2 "Therefore when thou doest <thine> alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."

Matthew 6:3 "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:"

Do not your alms before men, seen of them, not thy left know right:

Let your gifts be known only to God & He will reward you for them.

Matthew 6:4 "That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly." God honors

B) PRINCIPLES OF PRAYER: 6:5 - 6:8 Prayer is a conversation or communication (dialogue of 2 sides) of our heart with God. It should not be general but specific and its purpose is to get God's will done. The intent should not be aimed at changing God's mind or purpose. It should include repentance, praise, worship, thanksgiving, interceding and our requests (We have the petitions when we prayed in faith). Prayer should include praying in other tongues (Baptism of Holy Spirit: God's perfect prayer for each of us).

See my paper: "Prayer" PRESENTS PRAYER STEPS. THE LORD'S PRAYER AND OTHER NEW TESTAMENT PRAYER EXAMPLES SHOWN. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Holy Spirit Baptism" HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM BENEFITS ARE SHOWN. THE STEPS TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM ARE SHOWN for more information on this subject.

Matthew 6:5 "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites <are>: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."Man give them honor.

Matthew 6:6 "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." God will Himself honor you openly for your gift.

Matthew 6:7 "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen <do>: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."Do not pray a sermon for people to hear, but to God.

Ye pray, use not vain repetitions, they heard for much speaking:

VI) HOW TO USE YOUR FAITH FOR GOD'S PROMISES: The prayer, of faith, should be made in the name of Jesus. It should be in the will of God. A search of God's word on the subject should be made first. A large number of scriptures show God's promises. See my paper: "Faith" for many of the scriptures which cover most subjects. Since the subject is according to the will of God, we can pray with expectation for an immediate manifestation to result. If it does not we are to hold on to the request in faith. When you pray, your request should be made once for each subject. Any additional requests for the same subject would be made in un-belief. Prayer in the future, on that same subject, should be a praise and thanksgiving prayer for the finish work. Since the first prayer was done in faith, then the work is completed in the faith dimension. When God manifests the work, in this dimension, is in His timing. We are to believe it has been completed already.

See my paper: "Faith" FAITH PROMISES PRESENTED FOR EVERY ASPECT OF THE CHRISTIANS LIFE: SALVATION & HEALING. THE CONDITIONS. for more information on this subject.

A) CORRECT PERSISTENCE IS OK: We can pray thanksgiving for receiving the petition: in faith first and then when God manifests it.

Colossians 4:12 "Epaphras, who is <one> of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."

Luke 11:5-11 "And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; {6} For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? {7} And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. {8} I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. {9} And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Pray at all times & for all needs. Not many words are to be used. Not repeating requests.

Luke 18:1-8 "And he spake a parable unto them <to this end>, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; {2} Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: {3} And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. {4} And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; {5} Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. {6} And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. {7} And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? {8} I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" We should ask in faith. Then our prayer should be thanks for receiving the items requested. 2nd prayer is a lack of faith.

VII) HOW WE SHOULD NOT PRAY:

A) KILL THE ANOINTING: "I don't know if its your will to do this or not." "If it be thy will." Search the scriptures first to understand if it is God's will. We should move/pray in God's will.

Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, <and> there is nothing too hard for thee:"

B) RELIGIOUS WORKS: Prayer should not be by the clock. It is not an obligation as required work or duty. Prayer should not be aimed at others to hear, but it is to be directed to God. It should be simple conversation with God from our hearts. Jesus prayed one hour in Mark 14:37-38 and all night in Luke 6:12. David & Daniel prayed three times a day as in Psalms 55:17 & Daniel 6:10.

C) WRONG MOTIVATION:

James 4:3 "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume <it> upon your lusts." Not make the item a god to us.

1 John 2:15 "Love not the world, neither the things <that are> in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." The item should not own you. You are to use it for God.

Matthew 6:8 "Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."

Your Father knoweth what things ye need before ye ask him:

Isaiah 65:24 "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."

Acts 15:18 "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world." God has our blessing. We must only pray.

D) LORD'S PRAYER: 6:9 - 6:13; Luke 11:2-4

Matthew 6:9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."

Our Father: Our true Father. Abba, Father

Galatians 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

1 John 3:1 "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not."

God is holy as is His name: His Name and Word are God Himself.

See my paper: "Names of God" OLD TESTAMENT & NEW TESTAMENT TITLES FOR GOD WITH MEANINGS. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Jesus Titles & Characteristics" TITLES FOR JESUS WITH THEIR MEANINGS for more information on this subject.

Psalms 100:4 "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, <and> into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, <&> bless his name."

Psalms 138:2 "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name."

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Revelation 19:13 "And he <was> clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God."

Luke 11:2 "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth."

Matthew 6:10 "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as <it is> in heaven."

Thy kingdom come: We ask God to help us accomplish His kingdom. The kingdom of God tells who runs it; Kingdom of Heaven tells where it is. It always existed with God as King. Jesus is King, within the Christians, of His present Kingdom. Jesus came to bring the kingdom. His second coming will have Him as king for the Millennium.

See my paper: "Kingdom of God & Heaven" JESUS CAME TO ESTABLISH HIS KINGDOM. WHAT IS HIS KINGDOM? HOW CAN IT BE ENTERED? for more information on this subject.

Luke 11:20 "But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you."

Luke 17:21 "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven: God's will is done. We ask God to help us do His will. Prayer is to pray in God's will.

Matthew 6:11 "Give us this day our daily bread."

Luke 11:3 "Give us day by day our daily bread."

Give us this day our daily bread: God will supply all things to His children.

Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

Matthew 6:12 "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors: Jesus shows us an example from the parable in Matthew 18:23-35 Unmerciful Servant.

Mark 11:26 "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."

Matthew 6:13 "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Luke 11:4 "And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil."

Lead us not into temptation: God does not tempt anyone. God allows Satan to test and tempt us.

Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed <is> willing, but the flesh <is> weak."

James 1:13-14 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: {14} But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."

Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever:

Additional praise and worship to our God. Our prayers should start Father, in the Jesus name and conclude with: "in Jesus' name", not "in his name." The power and answer is in the name of Jesus.

See my paper: "Jesus Life, Events & Identity" JESUS KEY EVENTS SHOW HIS LIFE & IDENTIFY WHO HE IS. for more information on this subject.

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 16:24 "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." "Jesus, not the name"

Colossians 3:17 "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, <do> all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." Prayer is both words and deeds.

Amen: This means: Yea, it shall be so.

E) PRINCIPLES OF FORGIVEN: 6:14 - 6:15 Principle: Forgive others.

Matthew 6:14 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:"

If ye forgive men, heavenly Father will forgive you:

Mark 11:25 "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

Matthew 6:15 "But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

F) PRINCIPLES OF FASTING: 6:16 - 6:18 Principle: self giving.

Matthew 6:16 "Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." They are seen by man and honored.

Matthew 6:17 "But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;"

When thou fast: Fast unto the Lord that He alone knows.

Examples of fasting:

To stand in gap for people:

Deuteronomy 9:18 "And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger."

To learn God's will:

Ezra 8:21 "Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance."

To stand in gap for healing country:

2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

To heal child for parents sin:

2 Samuel 12:16 "David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth."

To heal someone:

Matthew 17:21 "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."Some difficult healings or removing demons are by fasting.

Matthew 6:18 "That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."

Appear not unto men to fast, but to thy Father which is in secret:

Isaiah 58:3-7 "Wherefore have we fasted, <say they>, and thou seest not? <wherefore> have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. {4} Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as <ye do this> day, to make your voice to be heard on high. {5} Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? <is it> to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes <under him>? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? {6} <Is> not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? {7} <Is it> not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?"

G) PRINCIPLES OF POSSESSIONS: 6:19 - 6:24 Principle: Invest in God.

Matthew 6:19 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:"

Matthew 6:20 "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:"

Luke 12:33 "Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth."

Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Luke 12:34 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also: It is a god.

Exodus 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."1st Command

This one scripture does the law and prophets which is the equivalent to the entire Bible (Old Testament was only Bible at this time).

See my paper: "The Purpose of Jesus Coming (Eight "W's")" SALVATION PRESENTATION WITH "W'S" TWIST. for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Walk as Jesus Walked" PRESENTED ARE THE WALKS OF THE CHRISTIAN DISCIPLE. for more information on this subject.

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." The Christians does his part first.

Luke 6:31 "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."

Colossians 3:5 "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:"

Matthew 6:23 "But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great <is> that darkness!"

Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

No man can serve two masters, hate one & love other, Ye can't serve God and mammon (money):

1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

H) PRINCIPLES OF APPREHENSION (WORRY NOT): 6:25 - 6:34 Principle: Faith

Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" First - take no thought.

Take no thought for your life, eat, drink, your body, put on:

"Take no thought" mention 5 times in Matthew 6:25, 27, 28, 31 & 34.

This is important since it is stated 5 times. We are not to worry.

Luke 12:22-23 "And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. {23} The life is more than meat, and the body <is more> than raiment."

Matthew 6:26 "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" Yes

Luke 12:24 "Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?" Much

Matthew 6:27 "Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" Cubit = 18 inches; Second - by taking thought.

Luke 12:25 "And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?"

Matthew 6:28 "And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:" Third - why take ye thought.

Luke 12:26-27 "If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? {27} Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

Matthew 6:29 "And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

Luke 12:28 "If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more <will he clothe> you, O ye of little faith?"

Matthew 6:30 "Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, <shall he> not much more <clothe> you, O ye of little faith?"

Matthew 6:31 "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?" Luke 12:29 "And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind."

Matthew 6:32 "(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things."

Luke 12:30 "For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things."

Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Luke 12:31 "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Seek ye the kingdom of God..his righteousness..all things be added:

Psalms 21:2 "Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah."

Matthew 6:34 "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day <is> the evil thereof." Fifth - take ..no thought.

J) PRINCIPLES OF JUDGING: 7:1 - 7:5 Principle: Judge rightly.

Christians can judge sin, not the small issues. My their fruits you can know them. See Matthew 7:16 and 7:20.

See my paper: "Judgments of Believer & Unbeliever" PRESENTED ARE SEVERAL JUDGMENTS FOR THE SAVED AND UN-SAVED for more information on this subject.

Matthew 7:1 "Judge not, that ye be not judged."

Luke 6:37 "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"

Matthew 7:2 "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Judge not, that ye be not judged:

Romans 14:4 "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand."Christians have Jesus as master.

Romans 14:10 "But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."

Matthew 7:3 "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

Luke 6:41-42 "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? {42} Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye."

Mote in thy brother's eye, not the beam in thine own eye:mote=speck

Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Judgment for same problem.

Matthew 7:4 "Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam <is> in thine own eye?"

Matthew 7:5 "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

K) PRINCIPLES OF DISCRETION: 7:6 Principle: Guardian of truth.

Matthew 7:6 "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

Give not holy unto the dogs; cast pearls to swine: Give in accordance to spiritual understanding. Dogs/swine: gentiles/lowly

Matthew 10:14-15 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. {15} Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

Matthew 15:26 "But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast <it> to dogs." Dogs = gentiles

L) PRINCIPLES OF ASSURANCE (ASK, SEEK, KNOCK): 7:7 - 7:11 Principle: Assurance for the diligent person.

Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:"

Ask, Seek & knock: Diligently seek Him. What is most important?

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith <it is> impossible to please <him>: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and <that> he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."God gives

Luke 11:9 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

Matthew 7:8 "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Luke 11:10 "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Matthew 7:9 "Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?" Only have best desires for son.

Luke 11:11 "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if <he ask> a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?"

Matthew 7:10 "Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?"

Luke 11:12 "Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?"

Matthew 7:11 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?"

Luke 11:13 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall <your> heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

Ye, being evil give good gifts, much more Father give Holy Spirit:

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"

M) PRINCIPLES OF GOLDEN RULE: 7:12 Principle: One way to live Bible.

VIII) KINGDOM PROOFS: 7:13 - 7:29

A) PRINCIPLES OF GATES: 7:13 - 7:14 Principle: Right way.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide <is> the gate, and broad <is> the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:" Strait gate means tight & little.

Matthew 7:14 "Because strait <is> the gate, and narrow <is> the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Strait gate vs wide gate: Camel had to bend down on knees to go.

Mark 10:25 "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."Small

B) PRINCIPLES OF DEEDS: 7:15 - 7:20 Principle: Measure Christian life

See my paper: "Christian Growth" PRESENTED IS THE STEPS A CHRISTIAN COULD GO THROUGH ONTO PERFECTION. for more information on this subject.

Matthew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

See my paper: "Jesus as Prophet, Priest, & King" SCRIPTURES SHOWS JESUS AS A PROPHET, MELCHISEDEC PRIEST & ETERNAL KING for more information on this subject.

Beware of false prophets: True & False Prophets Tests

- Spoke only in the name of the Lord (Yahweh).

- His life matches his position. He did not practice divination.

- Do not assume signs and wonders prove his position.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 "If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, {2} And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; {3} Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

2 Thessalonians 2:9 "<Even him>, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,"

- His message was in harmony with previous revelation.

- History will confirms his authenticity.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? {22} When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that <is> the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, <but> the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

- Moral quality and spiritual essence of the message.

- Inner witness to the Holy Spirit believer.

1 Corinthians 14:29 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge."

Matthew 7:16 "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"

Matthew 7:17 "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit."

Luke 6:43 "For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

Good tree bringeth forth good fruit:

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

Matthew 7:18 "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither <can> a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

Matthew 7:19 "Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."

Matthew 7:20 "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

Luke 6:44 "For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes."

By their fruits ye shall know them:

Matthew 12:33 "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by <his> fruit."

Luke 6:45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

Judgment of self works: Judge your own: motives, works, words and sins. See my papers: "Judgment of Believer & Un-Believer" and "Christian Growth" for more information on these subjects.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. {12} Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; {13} Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. {14} If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. {15} If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

1 Corinthians 11:31-32 "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. {32} But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."

2 Corinthians 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things <done> in <his> body, according to that he hath done, whether <it be> good or bad."

C) PRINCIPLES OF DOING GOD'S WILL: 7:21 - 7:23 Principle: Obedience.

Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

Not saith Lord, but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven:

Acts 19:13-15 "Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. {14} And there were seven sons of <one> Sceva, a Jew, <and> chief of the priests, which did so. {15} And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?"

Romans 2:13 "(For not the hearers of the law <are> just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified."

Luke 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?"

Many will say, Lord, we prophesied, cast out devils, done works:

They had a works religion, using Jesus's name, not a relationship.

Acts 19:13 "Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth."

Acts 19:15-16 "And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? {16} And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked & wounded."

Matthew 7:23 "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

D) PRINCIPLES OF PERFORMANCE: 7:24 - 7:27 Principle: Obedience or do deeds. Sermon on the Mount is for today.

See my paper: "Preservation and Perseverance of the Elect" ELECT HAVE ETERNAL SECURITY BEING KEPT BY GOD UNTO ETERNAL LIFE. for more information on this subject.

Matthew 7:24 "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:"

Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them: Jesus is telling us today to be do the word, not just a hear the sermon.

See my paper: "One-In-Christ" CHRISTIAN'S RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS IN CHRIST for more information on this subject.

Luke 6:47-48 "Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: {48} He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock."

Matthew 7:25 "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."

Matthew 7:26 "And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:"

Every one that heareth these sayings on mine and doeth them not:

James 1:22 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Luke 6:49 "But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."

Matthew 7:27 "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

E) PRINCIPLES OF AUTHORITY: 7:28 - 7:29 Principle: Jesus authority.

Matthew 7:28 "And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:"

Matthew 7:29 "For he taught them as <one> having authority, and not as the scribes."

People astonish at his doctrine, he taught, as having authority:

Jesus used scripture and not man make laws of tradition.

Mark 7:5-7 "Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? {6} He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with <their> lips, but their heart is far from me. {7} Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching <for> doctrines the commandments of men."
