JUDE & 2nd PETER 2 THEMES:

- CHRISTIAN ACTIVITY FOR SECURITY

Jude 1:1-3 "Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: {2} Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. {3} Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Jude 1:20-21, 24 "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, {21} Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. {24} Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"

- WARNING AGAINST APOSTATES

Jude 1:3-4 "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.{4} For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."

PURPOSE: WARN BELIEVERS OF FALSE TEACHERS AND THEIR INFLUENCE.

APOSTASY PROBLEM IN CHURCH:

Jude 4 warns of those who would pervert the grace of God. They tried to convince believes that God's grace gave them a license to sin since they had liberty. They also denied Jesus Christ as Sovereign Lord. Paul write against this also in Galatians 5:1-26. Gnosticism: Spirit is totally good, but flesh or matter is totally evil. They can commit any sin as matter is evil. This is heresy which is to choose, possesses salvation, but choose error.

A) SCRIPTURE CONNECTION TO JESUS:

Jesus half brother of both James and Jude with a common mother Mary and Joseph as common earthly father after Jesus is adoption by His earthly father Joseph.

JESUS CHRIST PRE-EMINENCE {COLOSSIANS} {JUDE 1/2PETER 2}

Jesus Christ is complete given His fullness {2:9} adequate as contrasted with the emptiness of deceptive human philosophy (2:8) that lacks ability to restrain the old sinful nature (2:23).

Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. {9} For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. {10} And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Colossians 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Jesus Christ is the very image of God and first born of every human.

Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Jesus Christ is the sustainer of all things that consist by Him.

Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Jesus Christ is the head of the church and the first to be resurrected that He have preeminence.

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Jesus Christ is the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form.

Colossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Jesus Christ is the reconciler all things through His death on the cross.

Colossians 1:20-22 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. {21} And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled {22} In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

MISC: SAINTS (SANCTIFIED ONES) {1 CORINTHIANS 1:2 – 16:15} {JUDE 1}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: {1 Corinthians 1:2}

(2) Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? {1 Corinthians 6:1}

(3) Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? {1 Corinthians 6:2}

(4) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. {1 Corinthians 14:33}

(5) Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. {1 Corinthians 16:1}

(6) I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) {1 Corinthians 16:15}

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C) God the Father:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: GOD THE FATHER {JOHN 1:14 – 20:22} {TITUS 1:4}

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. {John 1:14}

(2) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. {John 1:18}

(3) The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. {John 3:35}

(4) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. {22} Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. {23} But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. {John 4:21-23}

(5) But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. {18} Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. {19} Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. {20} For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. {21} For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. {22} For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: {23} That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. {24} Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. {25} Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. {6 } For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;" {John 5:17-26}

(6) I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. {John 5:30}

(6) But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. {37} And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. {John 5:36-37}

(8) Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. {John 5:45}

(9) Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. {28} Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? {29} Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. {John 6:27-29}

(10) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. {33} For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. {34} Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. {35} And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. {36} But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. {37} All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. {38} For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. {39} And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. {40} And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. {41} The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. {42} And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? {43} Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. {44} No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. {45} It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. {46} Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. {John 6:32-46}

(11) As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. {58} This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. {John 6:57-58}

(12) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. {John 6:65}

(13) And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. {17} It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. {18} I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. {19} Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. {John 8:16-19}

(14) They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. {28} Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. {29} And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. {John 8:27-29}

(15) I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. {39} They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. {40} But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. {41} Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. {42} Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. {John 8:38-42}

(16) Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. {John 8:49}

(17) Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? {54} Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: {John 8:53-54}

(18) As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. {16} And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. {17} Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. {18} No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. {John 10:15-18}

(19) Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? {37} If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. {38} But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. {John 10:36-38}

(20) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. {42} And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. {John 11:41-42}

(21) If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. {27} Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. {28} Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. {John 12:26-28}

(22) For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. {50} And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. {1} Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. {2} And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; {3} Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; {John 12:49-13:3}

(23) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. {7} If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. {8} Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? {10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. {11} Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. {12} Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. {13} And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. {14} If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. {15} If ye love me, keep my commandments. {16} And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; {John 14:6-16}

(24) At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. {21} He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. {22} Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? {23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. {24} He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. {25} These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. {26} But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. {27} Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. {28} Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. {29} And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. {30} Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. {31} But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. {1} I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. {John 14:20-15:1}

(25) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. {9} As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. {John 15:8-9}

(26) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. {16} Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. {John 15:15-16}

(27) He that hateth me hateth my Father also. {24} If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. {25} But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. {26} But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: {John 15:23-26}

(28) And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. {John 16:3}

(29) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. {8} And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: {9} Of sin, because they believe not on me; {10} Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; {11} Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. {John 16:7-11}

(30) All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. {16} A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. {17} Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? {John 16:15-17}

(31) And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. {24} Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. {25} These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the Father. {26} At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: {27} For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. {28} I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. {John 16:23-28}

(32) Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. {33} These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. {1} These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: {John 16:32-17:1}

(33) And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. {John 17:5}

(34) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.{12} While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. {John 17:11-12}

(35) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. {22} And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: {23} I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. {24} Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. {25} O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. {26} And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. {John 17:21-26}

(36) Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? {John 18:11}

(37) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. {John 20:17}

(38) Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. {22} And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: {John 20:21-22}

MISC: SAINTS PERSEVERANCE AND PERSISTENCE WITH ETERNAL REWARD {1 CORINTHIANS 9:24 - 9:27} {JUDE 1}

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEEP THE WORD:

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. {7} Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. {8} For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. {John 17:6-8}

WITH BOLDNESS SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD:

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, {30} By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. {31} And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. {32} And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. {33} And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. {Acts 4:29-33}

MAKE NOT PROVISION FOR THE FLESH:

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. {12} The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. {13} Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. {14} But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof" {Romans 13:11-14}

RUN THE RACE: Deny and discipline yourselves for heavenly prize

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. {24} And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they <do it> to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. {25} I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: {26} But I keep under my body, and bring <it> into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. {1 Corinthians 9:24-27}

ALL THINGS FOR SAINTS: Looking for eternal unseen things

For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. {16} For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. {17} For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; {18} While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. {2 Corinthians 4:15-18}

DO GOOD TOWARDS OTHERS: Sow and reap for good spiritual life

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. {Matthew 7:12}

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. {Luke 6:31}

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. {8} For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. {9} And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. {10} As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. {Galatians 6:7-10}

FIGHT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: Standing against Satan for all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. {11} Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. {12} For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.{13} Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. {14} Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; {15} And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; {16} Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. {17} And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: {18} Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; {Ephesians 6:10-18}

PRESS FOWARDS: Towards the prize of high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. {13} Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, {14} I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. {Philippians 3:12-14}

BE NOT MOVED: Fulfill Word of God of mystery manifested to the saints

If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; {24} Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: {25} Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; {26} Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: {Colossians 1:23-26}

LIVE IN FAITH AND LOVE WITH HOPE OF SALVATION:

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. {9} For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, {10} Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. {11} Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. {1 Thessalonians 5:8-11}

GROW IN FAITH:

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; {4} So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: {5} Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: {2 Thessalonians 1:3-5}

FIGHT THE GOOD FAITH FIGHT:

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. {13} I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; {14} That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: {15} Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; {1 Timothy 6:12-15}

ENDURE FIGHT: For others to obtain the salvation in Christ Jesus with eternal glory

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. {4} No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. {5} And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. {6} The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. {7} Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. {8}Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: {9} Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. {10} Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. {2 Timothy 2:3-10}

BE RENEWED IN THE HOLY GHOST:

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, {5} Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; {6} Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; {7} That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. {Titus 3:4-7}

LOVE AND FAITH TOWARDS GOD AND SAINTS:

I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, {5} Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; {6} That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. {7} For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. {Philemon 1:4-7}

RUN WITH PATIENCE:

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, {2} Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {3} For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. {4} Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. {Hebrews 12:1-4}

ESTABLISH YOUR HEART:

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. {9} Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. {10} Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. {11} Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. {James 5:8-11}

SPEAK AS ORACLES OF GOD:

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. {12} Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: {13} But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. {14} If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. {1 Peter 4:11-14}

PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. {5} And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; {6} And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; {7} And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. {8} For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. {2 Peter 1:4-8}

LOVE NOT THE WORLD:

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. {16} For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. {17} And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. {1 John 2:15-17}

LOVE ONE ANOTHER:

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. {5} And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. {6} And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. {7} For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. {2 John 1:4}

WALK IN TRUTH:

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. {5} Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; {6} Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: {7} Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. {3 John 1:4-7}

BUILD UP YOURSELVES:

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, {21} Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. {22} And of some have compassion, making a difference: {23} And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. {24} Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, {Jude 1:20-24}

HOLD FAST:

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. {11} Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. {12} Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. {Revelation 3:10-12}

RESULTS:

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. {7} I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: {8} Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. {2 Timothy 4:6-8}

2PETER 2

Contend for faith

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.{3}

Warning against apostates in church & turning grace into lasciviousness

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. {4}

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. {1} And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. {2} And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. {3}

MISC: FAITH FACTS AND EXAMPLES {HEBREWS 11:1 – 12:2} {JUDE 3}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) WHAT IS FAITH? Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. {2} For by it the elders obtained a good report. {3} Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. {Hebrews 11:1-3}

(2) WHAT IS IMPORTANT ABOUT FAITH? But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. {Hebrews 11:6}

(3) WHAT ARE RESULTS OF FAITH? By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. {5} By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. {Hebrews 11:4-5}

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. {8} By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. {9} By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. {10}
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. {11} Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. {12} By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, {17}
Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: {18} Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. {19} By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. {20} By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. {21} By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. {Hebrews 11:7-12, 17-21}

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment. {23} By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; {24} Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; {25} Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. {26} By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. {27} Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. {28} By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. {29} By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. {30} By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. {31} And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: {32} Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, {33} Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. {Hebrews 11:22-34}

(4) WHAT HAPPENED TO SOME IN THEIR FAITH? Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: {36} And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: {37} They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; {38} (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. {Hebrews 11:35-38}

(5) WHAT IF THEY DO NOT RECEIVE THE PROMISES OF FAITH? These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. {14} For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. {15} And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. {16} But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city {Hebrews 11:13-16}

And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: {40} God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. {Hebrews 11:39-40}

(6) WHAT REASONS TO LIVE IN FAITH? Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, {Hebrews 12:1}

(7) WHAT GIVES US FAITH? Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. {Hebrews 12:2}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEYWORD: [ UNGODLY ] {JUDE 4, 15, 18}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Ordained to condemnation, ungodly men: For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. {Jude 1:4}

(2) Judgment executed on ungodly; Ungodly commit men deeds; Who do ungodly sins by their hard speech: To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. {Jude 1:15}

E) Turning grace to lasciviousness: God has giving us liberty, but God's grace isn't a license to sin without restraint.

See my paper: "Grace" DEFINITION OF GRACE; GRACE FOR BELIEVERS; ONLY KINDNESS TO UNBELIEVERS; GRACE GROWTH; GRACE SAVES for more information on this subject.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MISC: GRACE {JUDE 4}

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRACE DEFINITION: Unmerited flavor from God to man. Getting what we do not deserve as compared with mercy: not getting what we deserve.

(1) Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Mercy not grace

GRACE IS A GIFT:

(1) Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also <is> the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, <which is> by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many." Gift from God to elected believers only

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: <it is> the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should boast." God gives grace & we believe unto salvation. It is a gift of God and not of man's work.

WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE:

(1) Psalms 84:11 "For the LORD God <is> a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good <thing> will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." God gives the grace so man can walk saved

(2) Acts 15:11 "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they." Grace from God to save the elect

(3) Romans 11:6 "And if by grace, then <is it> no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if <it be> of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." God's grace is not man's works

GRACE GROWS BY KNOWLEDGE OF JESUS & OUR HUMILITY:

(1) Proverbs 3:34 "Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly." Grace to lowly

(2) James 4:6 "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." Grace to humble

(3) 1 Peter 5:5 "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all <of you> be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble."

(4) 2 Peter 1:2 "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord," Grace multipled by knowledge of God

(5) 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and <in> the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him <be> glory both now and for ever. Amen."

GOD GIVES ONLY LOVING KINDNESS TO UNBELIEVER: Only Christians receive God's grace starting with salvation making them God's children. God provides loving kindness to man so that he can exist.

(1) Matthew 5:45 "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." Loving kindness

(2) Acts 14:17 "Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness." Loving kindness

(3) 1 Timothy 6:17 "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;" Loving kindness

MAN MAY FAIL TO RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE: God provides grace to only His Christians. Unbelievers do not receive grace in vain, are bitter & defiled, have wrong gospel, & deny Jesus.

(1) 2 Corinthians 6:1 "We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain." God is blessing, but the unbeliever is not receiving making the grace vain

(2) Galatians 1:6-7 "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: {7} Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ." To follow the wrong gospel removes the person from grace.

(3) Hebrews 12:15 "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;" Bitterness leads to failed grace.

(4) Jude 1:4 "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." God's grace used wrong leads man to denying Christ.

2PETER 2

Old Testament examples show judgment to these apostates & saved Israel people from Egypt then judged those who did not believed

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. {5}

God spared not the angels that sinned & reserved them to judgment at that great day

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. {6}

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast <them> down to hell, and delivered <them> into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; {4} And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth <person>, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly {5}

Sodom and Gomorrha was judged for fornication & destroyed them with fire

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. {7}

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned <them> with an overthrow, making <them> an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; {6} And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: {7} (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed <his> righteous soul from day to day with <their> unlawful deeds;) {8}

Defile the flesh, despise dominion, & speak evil of dignities

Likewise also these <filthy> dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. {8}

When contending with the devil & durst not bring against him a railing accusation

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. {9}

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: {9} But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous <are they>, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. {10} Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. {11}

But these speak evil of those things which they know not & as brute beasts they corrupt themselves

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. {10}

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; {12}

Greedily after the error of Balaam for reward & perished in the gainsaying of Core

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. {11}

Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam <the son> of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; {15} But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.{16}

Spots in your feasts of charity & can not cease from sin

These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds <they are> without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots {12}

And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, <as> they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots <they are> and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; {13} Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: {14}

Raging waves of the sea foaming their own shame & reserved the blackness of darkness for ever

Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. {13}

These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. {17}

Enoch prophesied of these & Lord cometh with his saints

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, {14}

Judgment upon all of all their ungodly deeds & all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. {15}

Murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts & their mouth speaketh great swelling words

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling <words>, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. {16}

For when they speak great swelling <words> of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, <through much> wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. {19} While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. {20}

D) True & False Prophets Test:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MISC: TRUE & FALSE PROPHETS TEST {JUDE 10}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prophet: A spokesman for another, as for God. Other names/titles in the Bible are as follows: Man of God; Servant of the Lord; Messenger of the Lord; and Seer (to see).

Exodus 7:1-2 "And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. {2} Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land."

Numbers 11:29 "And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, <and> that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!"

Jeremiah 1:7 "But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I <am> a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak."

Amos 3:7-8 "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. {8} The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?"

1 Samuel 9:9 "(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for <he that is> now <called> a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)"

1 Corinthians 12:28 "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

Prophet would meet the following:

- Spoke only in the name of the Lord (Yahweh).

- God had a special calling for him to by a prophet.

- His life matches his position. He did not practice divination.

- Do not assume signs and wonders prove his position.

- His God given prophecies came to pass.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 "If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, {2} And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; {3} Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

2 Thessalonians 2:9 "<Even him>, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,"

- His message was in harmony with previous revelation. History will confirms his authenticity.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? {22} When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that <is> the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, <but> the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

- Moral quality and spiritual essence of the message.

- Inner witness to the Holy Spirit believer.

- Test the prophets revelation against what the Bible states.

1 Corinthians 14:29 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge."

Holy Scriptures:

God's word is above that of His name:

Psalms 138:2 "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." God's words is most important.

Word of God is Jesus (God's name) who is in every Scriptures:

Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." The Bible, scriptures, are God's words.

Psalms 40:7 "Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book <it is> written of me," (fulfilled see Hebrews 10:7) The Bible is centered on Jesus (God) before & after He is manifested in flesh.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is God & the Word of God.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 EXAMPLES OF OLD TESTAMENT PEOPLE WHOSE SINS COMPARED WITH THESE:

E) Evil sins:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: EVIL SINS {JUDE 11}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Way of Cain; (2) Error of Balaam; (3) Gainsaying of Core:

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. {Jude 1:11}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

F) Examples of Old Testament Evil sinners:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MISC: 3 EXAMPLES OF OLD TESTAMENT PEOPLE WHOSE SINS COMPARED WITH THESE: {JUDE 11}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I) Cain: Works of his own righteousness of evil - not blood atonement.

Genesis 4:3,5,8-9 "And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. {5} But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. {8} And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. {9} And the LORD said unto Cain, Where <is> Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: <Am> I my brother's keeper?"

1 John 3:12 "Not as Cain, <who> was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."

II) Balaam: Caused Israel to sin (idols/commit fornication) for greed.

Numbers 22:7,12-13,18,21-23,27-28,31 "And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. {12} And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they <are> blessed. {13} And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you. {18} And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. {21} And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. {22} And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants <were> with him. {23} And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. {27} And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. {28} And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? {31} Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face." Balaam made good confession in verse 18, but God already gave Balaam his word and Balaam should not have asked again.

Numbers 24:1 "And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness."

Numbers 31:8,16 "And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; <namely>, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. {16} Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD."

Revelation 2:14 "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication."

III) Core (Korah): Usurped authority not giving by God & opposed, denied, & contradicted God's proper authority figure.

Numbers 16:3-7,27-29,33 "And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, <Ye take> too much upon you, seeing all the congregation <are> holy, every one of them, and the LORD <is> among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? {4} And when Moses heard <it>, he fell upon his face: {5} And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will show who <are> his, and <who is> holy; and will cause <him> to come near unto him: even <him> whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. {6} This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; {7} And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be <that> the man whom the LORD doth choose, he <shall be> holy: <ye take> too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. {27} So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. {28} And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for <I have> not <done them> of mine own mind. {29} If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; <then> the LORD hath not sent me. {33} They, and all that <appertained> to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation."

Numbers 26:9-10 "And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This <is that> Dathan and Abiram, <which were> famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD: {10} And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign."

These usurped authority not giving by God. Opposing & contradicted God's proper authority namely, Moses. This followed a similar usurping of God's authority to whoever he wills. Miriam and Aaron went against Moses which should of been an example to Korah.

Numbers 12:1-2,6-10 "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. {2} And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard <it>. {6} And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, <I> the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, <and> will speak unto him in a dream. {7} My servant Moses <is> not so, who <is> faithful in all mine house. {8} With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? {9} And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. {10} And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam <became> leprous, <white> as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, <she was> leprous." Moses intercedes for her.

MISC: GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT {JOHN 1:32 – 20:22}; SEE ALSO LIVING WATER {JOHN 4:10} {JUDE 20}

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.{33} And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost {John 1:32-33}

(2) But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. {John 4:14}

(3) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. {39} (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) {John 7:38-39}

(4) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever {17} Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you {John 14:16-17}

(5) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. {John 14:23}

(6) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you {John 14:26}

(7) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me {John 15:26}

(8) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you {8} And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment {9} Of sin, because they believe not on me {10} Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more {John 16:7-10}

(9) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come {14} He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you {John 16:13-14}

(10) And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost {John 20:22}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MISC: OTHER HOLY SPIRIT GIFTS {JUDE 20}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(I) Prophecy:

(1) {Ephesians 3:5} Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

(2) {Ephesians 4:11} And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

(II) Ministry:

(1) {Romans 12:7} Or ministry, <let us wait> on <our> ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

(2) {2 Timothy 4:2} Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

(III) Teaching:

(1) {Colossians 1:28} Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

(2) {1 Timothy 5:17} Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

(IV) Exhorting:

(1) {Romans 12:8} Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, <let him do it> with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

(2) {Hebrews 10:25} Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

(V) Giving:

(1) {2 Corinthians 9:7} Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

(2) {1 Peter 4:10} As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

(VI) Ruler:

(1) {Hebrews 13:17} Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

(2) {1 Peter 5:3} Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

(VII) Shows mercy:

(1) {Romans 11:31} Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
