This paper discusses the Apostle. What is the Apostle called to do, what is his authority, and who are the apostles in the Bible. Apostles are one of the Holy Spirit Church Spiritual Gifts. All scriptures are from the King James' version Bible.

THEME: An Apostle is one sent by God, with the power of attorney and authority, to act (with power) in place of sender. He was chosen and ordained to the position to be a witness of what God showed him. Apostles started many churches and appointed Elders to the church.

Ephesians 4:11-13 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; {12} For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: {13} Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

PURPOSE: God called the apostle to present the gospel with power as witnesses of Jesus ministry to perfect the Christians to the fullness of Christ.

Mark 3:14-15 "And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, {15} And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:"

1 Corinthians 9:1-14 "Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? {2} If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. {3} Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, {4} Have we not power to eat and to drink? {5} Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and <as> the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? {6} Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working? {7} Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? {8} Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? {9} For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? {10} Or saith he <it> altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, <this> is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. {11} If we have sown unto you spiritual things, <is it> a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? {12} If others be partakers of <this> power over you, <are> not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. {13} Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live <of the things> of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? {14} Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel."

WHAT: God called the apostle to present the gospel with power as witnesses of Jesus ministry.

Romans 1:1 "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called <to be> an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,"

Galatians 1:1 "Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)"

1 Corinthians 9:1 "Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?"

1 Corinthians 9:1, 11-12 "Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? {11} If we have sown unto you spiritual things, <is it> a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? {12} If others be partakers of <this> power over you, <are> not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ."

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 "For though I be free from all <men>, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. {20} And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; {21} To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. {22} To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all <men>, that I might by all means save some. {23} And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with <you>."

1 Corinthians 3:9-11 "For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. {10} According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. {11} For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Ephesians 2:20 "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner <stone>;"

Apostles have always been needed by the church. In these end days, God will restore the true apostles and other five fold ministries. They will help bring the saints unto a perfect man and bring in the soon coming of Jesus Christ for his glorified church.

2 Corinthians 12:12 "Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds".

Mark 3:14 "And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,"

Luke 11:49 "Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and <some> of them they shall slay and persecute:"

John 13:16 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him."

Apostles are defined as apostles 78 times and messengers 2 times in scriptures. Messenger is used once for ambassador or apostle.

Ephesians 4:11 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"

Philippians 2:25 "Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour <G4904>, and fellowsoldier <G4961>, but your messenger <G652>, and he that ministered to my wants." Epaphroditus was an apostle with Paul.

Strong's Greek Apostle and Messenger: <G652> from <G649> (apostello); a delegate; specially an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ [“apostle”] (with miraculous powers) :- apostle, messenger, he that is sent..

Strong's Greek <G4961> from <G4862> (sun) and <G4757> (stratiotes); a co-campaigner, i.e. (figurative) an associate in Christian toil :- fellowsoldier.

Strong's Greek <G4904> from a presumed compound of <G4862> (sun) and the base of <G2041> (ergon); a co-laborer, i.e. coadjutor :- companion in labour, (fellow-) helper (-labourer, -worker), labourer together with, workfellow.

Deuteronomy 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. Jesus chose these three apostles as legal witnesses to several of His events

Mark 5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. Jesus healing child

22) Mark (Marcus): He went, probably as apostle, on missionary trip with Paul & also with Barnabas on missionary trip; wrote Gospel Mark

Acts 13:13 "Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem." Left Paul's missionary trip, Paul would not take him on follow-on missionary trip, Barnabas took him on his missionary trip, Later Paul found him profitable, Mark's Gosple may have come from Peter

Acts 15:37-39 "And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. {38} But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work. {39} And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;"
